Joint call for Frankfurt as a financial centre: ‘Democracy needs one thing above all: YOU’.

The appeal for the 2025 Bundestag elections emphasises the importance of stable framework conditions for Frankfurt as a financial centre and the future of Germany. In times of great challenges, every vote is crucial for strengthening our democracy and social acceptance.

The Frankfurt financial centre is urging citizens to participate in the Bundestag elections on 23 February. “Diversity and openness are central to our identity and corporate culture. Stable framework conditions are essential for our success,” reads a joint appeal from the Frankfurt financial centre, published on Saturday.

The 14 signatories of the initiative include KfW, Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Börse, Deutsche Bundesbank, DZ Bank, Fidelity, Frankfurter Sparkasse, Frankfurt Main Finance, Helaba, ING, Bankhaus Metzler, Stiftung Polytechnische Gesellschaft, and Union Investment.

The initiative is titled: “Democracy needs one thing above all: YOU.” The supporters advocate for “securing the acceptance of the free and democratic constitutional order and for a strong, tolerant, and cosmopolitan country.”

Joint call at the Frankfurt financial centre:

  • We, the players in the Frankfurt financial centre, are deeply committed to the 2025 German federal elections. As a financial hub with nearly 300 financial service providers, located in the heart of Germany, diversity and openness are the foundation of our identity and corporate culture, while stable framework conditions are crucial to our success. We are home to more than 70,000 employees in our industry and to key institutions, including the European Central Bank, European supervisory authorities, and the Deutsche Bundesbank.
  • These are exceptionally challenging times. Our country is facing significant economic and structural challenges, and for any solutions to succeed, they must have broad societal support. This makes the upcoming German federal elections especially critical.
  • The elections will play a decisive role in shaping the future direction of German society—including its status as a business hub. Voting in these elections will help ensure that Germany remains prepared for whatever the future may bring.
  • Every vote cast counts and is crucial for upholding the acceptance of the liberal democratic constitutional order and ensuring that Germany remains a strong, tolerant, and open country. Only those who vote will have a voice in the process.
  • Give Germany and German democracy a strong voice: Your voice.
