If Lutz Raettig did not exist, Frankfurt would have to invent him. The financial centre on the Main and the financial centre initiative Frankfurt Main Finance owe much to Lutz Raettig. Since 2005, he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Morgan Stanley Bank AG in Frankfurt. From 1995 to 2005, he served as Morgan Stanley Bank AG’s Chief Executive Officer. After studying business administration and completion of his PhD, the native Berliner, who graduated from high school in Bremen, began his career in the finance industry. For more than a quarter of a century, Lutz Raettig has worked in various banks in locations in Germany, London and New York.
Lutz Raettig personifies the positive virtues of the banker like no other. Anyone who is fortunate enough to be able to work personally with him recognizes his almost inexhaustible energy, appreciates his mild manner even in turbulent situations and under heavy workloads, and knows his friendly, personal demeanour in his dealings with colleagues and employees.
In addition to his duties at Morgan Stanley, Lutz Raettig is active in a number of other functions. He is a member of the Exchange Council of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Vice President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Frankfurt, Member of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany, Member of the Board of the German-American Chamber of Commerce, New York, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Bankenakademie e.V., Frankfurt, Member of the Advisory Council, Clearstream International, Luxembourg, Chairman of the Advisory Board, Fraport AG, Member of the Supervisory Board, Messe Frankfurt, Member of the Municipal Council of the City of Frankfurt. The list could go on for quite a bit.
For Frankfurt Main Finance, Lutz Raettig has served as Chairman of the Executive Committee since the association’s inception in 2008. In this role, he is the association’s most influential personality and a vocal advocate for the Financial Centre Frankfurt and the financial sector.
For his 75th birthday, the city of Frankfurt has hosted a ceremony and reception in his honour in the historic Römer. Frankfurt Main Finance extends the warmest wishes and heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Lutz Raettig on this extraordinary occasion.
