We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Friedrich von Metzler. With his passing, Frankfurt has not only lost one of the most influential personalities in the German banking landscape, but also an extraordinary person who was passionately committed to the financial centre, the city of Frankfurt and society.<\/p>

His work went far beyond the world of banking. Friedrich von Metzler was a co-founder and founding board member of Frankfurt Main Finance and made a significant contribution to the launch of the Frankfurt Financial Summit, which continues to provide impetus for international dialogue in the financial centre to this day. As President of Deutsche B\u00f6rse AG, he also shaped Frankfurt’s development into one of the world’s most important financial centres.<\/p>

In addition to his professional activities, Friedrich von Metzler was involved in cultural, social and scientific projects with exemplary dedication. Together with his family, he campaigned for the promotion of education, art and social justice. Projects such as the Albert and Barbara von Metzler Foundation and his commitment to Goethe University Frankfurt and the St\u00e4del Museum are part of his legacy.<\/p>

He was honoured with numerous awards for his services, including the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and honorary citizenship of the City of Frankfurt am Main.<\/p>

In Friedrich von Metzler, we have lost an exceptional banker, visionary and philanthropist whose legacy will have an impact far beyond the financial centre. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. We would like to express our deepest sympathy and wish them much strength in these sad moments.<\/p>
