Deutsche Bank has been designated by the People’s Bank of China as the renminbi (RMB) clearing bank for Europe. Deutsche Bank is thus the first bank in Europe authorized to offer this service. Frankfurt Main Finance e.V. congratulates its member on this milestone, which underscores the global significance of Frankfurt as a financial hub.
Through clearing in Frankfurt, financial institutions and companies benefit from direct and rapid processing, settlement, and clearing of cross-border RMB transactions, thereby strengthening their financial ties between Europe and China.
Alexander von zur Mühlen, CEO of Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East & Africa, and Germany at Deutsche Bank, said: “The mandate as an RMB clearing partner in Europe strengthens our role as a globally reliable clearing bank and underscores our long-standing commitment to the internationalization of the renminbi. This allows us to improve financial connectivity between China and Europe and better support our clients in their cross-border trade and investment activities.”
This strengthens Frankfurt’s position as an international financial center. Clients benefit from more efficient payment flows, direct access to offshore RMB liquidity, and optimized payment solutions.
