charta der vielfalt – For Diversity in the World of Work

On 31 May 2022, the 10th nationwide Diversity Day took place in Germany. On this day, more than 1,000 organisations engaged in more than 3,000 self-organised actions for more diversity in the workplace and sent an important signal against discrimination.

Diversity Day was launched by the Charta der Vielfalt (Diversity Charter) initiative founded in 2006. As an employer initiative, it aims to promote the recognition, appreciation and inclusion of diversity in the world of work in Germany. A central component of this alliance is the document of the same name, which has already been signed by more than 4,500 companies and institutions and includes their commitment to a working environment free of prejudice.

Diversity is not only important on this day, however, but also on any other – especially in the working world, which is shaped by social and economic changes. Diversity management helps companies to respond to precisely these trends and to present themselves as attractive employers. Increased satisfaction among employees as well as managers, compensation for the shortage of skilled workers, increased effectiveness and innovation are just some of the advantages that this management approach brings with it.

There is more exciting content on the Charta der Vielfalt website. For employers in particular, there is a range of information and assistance, for example on the following questions: What are the diversity dimensions? What is the best way to implement diversity in the world of work? How do you measure the success of diversity management?
