At the 15th Financial Centre Day of the WM Group, Hubertus Väth, Managing Director of Frankfurt Main Finance, speaks about the change in the financial industry and the topic of ESG.
On 14 and 15 June 2022, the WM Group’s 15th Financial Centre Day took place in Frankfurt – for the first time on site since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic! The panels and keynotes at the two-day event focused on this year’s main topic “The role of the financial centre in political crises”.
Hubertus Väth, Managing Director of Frankfurt Main Finance, also took part in the event and moderated a panel discussion on “Sustainability beyond the Environment”. In the following interview, he talks about how the financial industry has changed from being part of a problem in the 2008 financial crisis to being the instrument of choice for, among other things, the sustainable transformation of the economy in 2022. He also emphasises the need for adequate reporting on sustainability issues in the financial industry and refers to the establishment of the ISSB in Frankfurt as the central institution in the financial centre.
